Feels Like Love

Description

Feels Like Love is the sophomore album by the Canadian pop/rock duo One Hundred Days (Ian Tanner and Andrew Horrocks of The Awakening fame), released on Liquid Disc in 1996, distributed by Diamante Music Group. The album was recorded January to April 1996 by Andrew Horrocks at A.M.E. Recording Studio in Kitchener/Ontario, Canada; with band members Horrocks and Ian Tanner producing. Mixed by Horrocks and Tanner. All songs written by Horrocks and Tanner.

Featuring Ian Tanner on vocals, keyboards, bass, and percussion; and Andrew Horrocks on vocals, guitars, and percussion. Also featuring Glenn Teeple on guitars and Steve Marsh on drums and percussion, both of élim Hall fame.

Back in 1992, band members Ian Tanner and Andrew Horrocks self-released an album entitled Counting By Heads recorded under the moniker The Obvious. In 1996 Liquid Disc re-released this album (slightly modified and featuring new cover artwork) under the One Hundred Days moniker. This album became the band’s third and final Liquid Disc effort.

[Michael Ciani, CCM, November 1996]

After Andrew Horrocks and I got our deal with Liquid Disc and released our first CD, The Obvious, we experienced another membership change in the band. Our drummer Gord Stevenson left the group to devote more time to his own band(s), and Andy I again had to re-structure the organization.

In late 1995, we approached two of our old pals – Glen Teeple and Steve Marsh, who were both formerly in one of our favourite bands Elim Hall. They agreed to join with Andy and I, and although we remained the core of the group and the songwriters, the input and inspiration that came from Glen and Steve was immense, not to mention the great friendship we got to solidify.

The whole album was recorded at Andy’s house in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, from January until April of 1996. While we were doing hours and hours of studio sessions, we had no idea that our friend and drummer Steve would not live long enough to see the finished album. He was diagnosed with liver cancer near the time we finished tracking the album. He was gone by the time the CD hit the shelves in August of 96′. Such a sad, sad story. He was such a force of life and one of the sweetest human beings on the planet. He was, and is gravely missed.

The strange irony is, I’ve had trouble listening to the second half of the album without thinking directly about Steve, even though these songs were all written before we had any idea he would be leaving us.

When the album came out and Steve was gone, it meant we had to tour with a new version of One Hundred Days. Glen Teeple did not want to go on the road so soon after Steve’s passing. We found a new drummer to do the tour at the end of 1996, but the tour showed us evidence that Liquid Disc was not having an easy go selling our products. By early 1997, it was clear we might be losing our deal, and thus One Hundred Days had to make big changes soon after.

Thanks for listening to this album, and if it’s your first time, I hope you will enjoy it.
