Description
Elementary is the sixth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Cindy Morgan, released on Word Entertainment in 2001. Also manufactured and distributed by Epic, a division of Sony Music. The album was produced by Brent Bourgeois and Cindy Morgan.
Maybe it was criticism experienced by Cindy for the arty obscurity of some of her previous lyrics which encouraged her this time to write such straight forward words. She is to be applauded for that though sometimes the words teeter dangerously towards predictability (“Faith is believing/ In all you’ve been dreaming/ The sky is the limit/ If your heart is in it”). Musically there is a wide range of styles touched on, hooky pop, lush orchestral balladry, a Latin-flavoured samba, even a trace of techno on one track. Vocally Cindy is a class act but somehow the deficiencies of some of the lyrics and the lack of immediacy of many of the tracks here make this a classily produced album which you will seldom be drawn to listen to.
