Description
Count the Cost is the sixth album by the American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist David Meece, released on Myrrh Records in 1983, a division of Word. The album was recorded by Jack Joseph Puig at Caribou Ranch in Nederland, Colorado; and at Bullet Recording Studio and Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; with Brown Bannister producing. Mixed by Puig at The Bennett House in Franklin, Tennessee. Michael W. Smith, an up-and-coming artist at that time, is featured on the album both as songwriter and musician (playing keyboards and synthesizers).
By 1983, I had been influenced by European techno pop and wanted to head in that direction. At the same time, I was desiring to reintroduce my classical roots musically. Putting the techno pop and classical together, starting with Counting the Cost, began a challenge that I am still in the process of dealing with musically. – David Meece [Excerpt from the liner note of the compilation album Chronology released on Myrrh Records in 1986]
