Description
Rock of the Ages, sub-titled Rock and Roll from the Third Dimension is a multi-artist compilation featuring music by nine of the leading pop/rock artists signed to Word Records, released on Myrrh Records in 1983, a division of Word.
The human condition has often been described as having three dimensions – body, mind and spirit. The body is our physical being as it interacts with the environment. Hunger, fear, pleasure, pain – these are all concepts which pertain primarily to the body. In contrast we find the mind. The human mind defines the logical aspect of our experience. It is the mind which tells us the facts and says “This is the smart thing to do.” However, it is the spirit which mediates these two opposing forces. The spirit listens to both elements and adds to them motivation, purpose, compassion and justice. It is the spirit that encourages a mother to save her child from a burning building, even though the body and mind might say “That isn’t safe” or “That isn’t wise.” And thus, it is ultimately the spirit which makes each human being unique to the animal kingdom – able to make choices which often have eternal consequence.
This recording is dedicated to the spirit – THE THIRD DIMENSION. The Music contained herein describes an experience which is very real to each artist… an experience which has changed their lives as they have chosen to view the universe from a new perspective. We invite you to experience this perspective as your eyes and ears encounter this ‘spirit music’ – ROCK & ROLL FROM THE THIRD DIMENSION.
