Take Me is the debut album by the American pop duo Clay House (Paul Dexter and David Snow), released on N’Soul Records in 1995, distributed in the US by Diamante Music Group. The album was produced by band member Paul Dexter.

‘Take Me’, the debut project by Southern California duo Clay House (comprised of Paul Dexter and David Snow), is a sparkling pop record. Reminiscent of such ’80s English bands like Level 42, Clay House blends technology and production value with very poetic, emotional lyrics.

Musically, the songs are groove oriented with a definite European feel while lyrically, Clay House has focused its message to believers with subjects like surrender and the endurance of faith. One of the outstanding tracks is the extremely personal «Tears for Your Soul», the lyrics of which are focused on David’s relationship with his own father. While personal and confessional, there is the element of universality in the emotion. Though not everyone struggles specifically with a parent’s relationship with Christ, this song represents plenty of common ground on which listeners can relate. While Euro-pop music can tend toward the mundane, these songs are attempting to infuse pathos into the creative process.

Clay House is a melody driven band that doesn’t push the envelope too far in any direction. With strong vocal ability coupled with the radio accessibility of the songs, Clay House stands a good chance of being the first high profile group from N’ Soul. [Devlin Donaldson, CCM, January 1996]
