Adore: Christmas Songs of Worship is a Christmas album recorded live by the American worship singer and songwriter Chris Tomlin, released on sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records in 2015, manufactured by Capitol CMG Label Group, distributed in the US by Capitol Christian Distribution.

As far as I’m concerned the opener «He Shall Reign Forever» is up there with Chris’ best non-Christmas songs and the simple, anthemic chorus will surely be ringing from many Carol services for years to come. ‘Adore’ is a live album, but not so you’d notice, and the arrangements and production are well up to standard. There are some guests featured including Lauren Daigle offering her sweet voice to «Noel» and Kristyn Getty and All Sons & Daughters helping breathe new life into a couple of carol evergreens. I’m not quite sure all the lyric writing on the new songs is quite up to par (for instance, the middle eight of «Adore», written by Martin Chalk and Graham Kendrick, has the declaration “Angels sing/ Praises ring/ To the newborn King”) but with such fine vocal performances and sympathetic arrangements I’m happy to ignore the occasional descent into cliché.
