Description
Psalms is the sophomore and final studio album by the American folk-pop group Seth, released on Shalom Records in 1975, distributed by Acts 29, PA. The album was recorded by Bobby Cotton, Billy Taylor, and band member Jonathan David Brown at CAM in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and was produced by Brown with Cotton. Mixed by Brown.
Psalms picked up Kelly Bagley (i.e., Kelly Willard) as a new member and enlisted the services of Sonlight/Koinonia musicians Harlan Rogers (organ) and Hadley Hockensmith (lead guitars). Opens with a pleasant country pop song «A Man Called Jesus», then settles into mega-mellow ballads and CCM for the remainder of the album. «My Friend» and the richly orchestrated ballad «This Christ» are perhaps the closest they came to approximating that MOR style of The Carpenters. Mostly originals written by Jonathan David Brown, along with Harlan Rogers’ «A Psalm Of Love» and Danniebelle Hall’s «Keep Holdin’ On». Gatefold cover. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
