I Have Returned is a gospel album by the American country singer and songwriter Marijohn Wilkin (July 14, 1920 – October 28, 2006), released on Myrrh Records in 1974, a division of Word. The album was recorded by Charlie Bragg and Roger Tucker at the House of Cash Recording Studios in Hendersonville, Tennessee; with Marijohn producing. Featuring her self-penned gospel classic, “One Day At A Time”, co-written with Kris Kristofferson.

Marijohn Wilkin may be most famous for «One Day at a Time», often considered the biggest gospel song of the 1970s. Wilkin wrote the song in 1973 with some assistance by her former protégé Kris Kristofferson. (As a publisher it was Marijohn who signed Kristofferson to Buckhorn Music, who would change the face of country music and become a show business phenomenon.) The song won the Song of the Year Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association in 1975. It also launched a career as a gospel recording artist for Wilkin, who released several albums on Word Records, all songs self-penned. A remake became a No. 1 country hit for Cristy Lane in 1980 and has since been recorded more than 200 times. Even though written as a personal worship song, it has also been recognized as “One of the Top 50 Southern Gospel Songs.”

The songwriter broadened her scope within the music industry with the formation of a recording back-up vocal group dubbed “The Marijohn Singers.” The group was to be heard on hundreds of Nashville recordings which led to appearances on the then widely viewed “Good Ole Nashville Music” television show. Although she was primarily a country songwriter, her songs have been recorded by several pop and rock acts, including Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger. Wilkin also wrote «I Just Don’t Understand» which became a pop hit for Ann-Margret and later was covered by The Beatles. Marijohn was inducted into the Southern Songwriters’ Guild Hall of Fame in 1995 and into the North American Country Music Association International as “Hall of Fame Legendary Songwriter” in 1999.
