THE IMPERIALS – The Imperials Live – Day Spring DST-4007 – Producers: Armond Morales, Buddy Huey & Chris Christian – List: 6.98
The Imperials have been sailing on the old Gospel Ship since their maiden cruise in 1964. Some of the original crew have disembarked and the Imperials have landed in many different ports, but they have always mastered their craft. This album represents the essence of The Imperials voyage. During the ’60s their music was centered around old time gospel hymns while the ’70s have seen a more jazzy, contemporary approach. Whichever is your preference, the spicy but smooth Imperial blend is a blue ribbon disc on any turntable. Best cuts: «Bread Upon The Water», «How Great Thou Art», «Sail On», and «The Old Gospel Ship». [CashBox Magazine, May 27, 1978, (Gospel Review Section)]
