All Systems Are Go

Description

All Systems Are Go is the eighth studio album by the American pop trio The Archers, released on Light Records in 1984.

Looking uncomfortably self-conscious in Michael Jackson’s leftover “Victory Tour” space uniforms, the Archers enter the synthesized ’80s with ‘All Systems Are Go’. Actually, Tim, Steve, and Janice rarely stray from familiar ground on most of the cuts, with plenty of soft MOR pop featuring tight, family harmonies, strings, and tinkling electric piano.

The two cuts that deliver what the cover promises are both first-rate: «Get Ready Get Right» and «Don’t Let It». Both songs expertly employ edgy synthesizers and a little bit of blue-eyed soul. «Every Good and Perfect Gift» is a pleasantly ambitious piece – but the opening classical string arrangement is all but unrelated to the music that follows, and a lot more interesting.
