First Nashville Jesus Band – Peace in the Valley

Description

Peace in the Valley is an instrumental album by the American country group First Nashville Jesus Band, released on Lamb & Lion Records in 1974. The albumet was recorded by Jack Linneman and Billy Linneman at Hilltop Recording Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; with Jack Linneman producing.

Featuring David Reece and Jerry Whitehurst on piano; Johnny Gimble on fiddle; Jimmy Capps on guitar; Jeff Newman on steel guitar; Billy Linneman on bass; and Paul Charron on drums.

For this 1974 release, the sound of the group has expanded from their debut to introduce a fiddle to augment the steel playing that is at the heart of the band. Once again the mix of country, folk, pop and gospel come into play so that there’s a rich instrumental sound. Once again they have blended a pile of Christian songs and hymns together in their own unique style. There’s a great version of Andrae Crouch’s «I’ve Got Confidence» and the classic country song «Keep On The Sunny Side» which features some great piano playing. «I Believe» features some more signature steel guitar and «Bound For Glory» has some perfect country twang! [Mike Rimmer, Cross Rhythms]

«On A Hill» [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
