Description
Let There Be Love is the sophomore gospel album by the British singer Dana (Dana Rosemary Scallon), released in both the UK and the US on Word Records in 1983. The album was recorded by Alan Jakoby, assisted by John Canham, at Regent’s Park Studios in London, England; with Kurt Kaiser producing for Lite Productions. Mixed by Nick Froome at Utopia Village in London. Arranged by Peter Moss. Featuring covers of “Diamond in the Rough” (a song written by Honeytree and originally recorded on her 1978-album, The Melodies in Me), “Hallelujah” (a song co-written by Richie Furay and David Diggs, originally recorded on Furay’s 1982-album, Seasons of Change), “Run That Race” (a song co-written by Teri Desario Purse and Bill Purse, originally recorded by Joni Eareckson on her 1982-album, Spirit Wings), and “Hosanna” (a song written by Tricia Walker and originally recorded on her 1982-album, More Than I Am).
Dana is backed by a session band featuring Peter Moss, David Firman, and Brian Miller on piano (with producer Kurt Kaiser providing piano on track A4); Peter Moss, Mitch Dalton, and Derek Griffiths on guitar; Bill Walker on bass; and Will Hill in drums. Horns provided by Geoff Driscoll on tenor saxophone, Steve Sidwell on trumpet, and Pete Thoms on trombone. String section lead by Gavin Wright.
