Description
Melody is the debut album by the American synthpop band Joy Electric, released on Tooth & Nail Records in 1994, distributed by Diamante Music Group. “Sweet Sweet Charity” is a new recording of an old Rainbow Rider song. According to Tooth & Nail Records’ promo, the album containes “electric light parades for everyone.”
Made at The Electric Joy Toy Company. Recorded at The House on Turnberry in the early months of 1994. Vocals recorded and mixed by Bob Moon at Moonsong Studios. Primary instrumentation was a Roland Juno 106, Juno 1, MC-202, TB-303, JD-800, R8 MKII, Sequential Circuits Six-Trak, Akai S-950 and Vox Amplifier.
The debut was followed up by an EP entitled Five Stars For Failure.

Re-issued as a 12-inch vinyl double LP by Plastiq Musiq in February 2015, pressed on Red Vinyl and housed in a gatefold jacket. (Re-issued in conjunction with a book commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Melody album. This release was available for purchase with or without the book.)
A full-page advertisement for various new releases on Tooth & Nail Records, including Joy Electric’s Melody, was featured in Syndicate Magazine No 42, Vol. 9, 1994.
