Description
electroacoustic ep1 is a five-track CD-EP album by the American singer and songwriter Chris Taylor of Love Coma fame, independently released in 2017. The EP was produced and recorded by Chris Taylor April through May 2017. Featuring Chris Taylor on acoustic guitars, harmonica, and vocals, with Mitchell Connell sitting in on electric guitars.
This five-track EP from acclaimed Texan singer/songwriter Chris Taylor does what it says on the tin by offering up a collection of songs that combine the sounds of both the acoustic and electric guitar. Taylor’s plaintive and passionate vocals – very reminiscent of fellow Christian troubadour Brian Houston – enhance these stripped back offerings and there is an overriding melancholic feel to proceedings with the likes of the bitter sweet «And Sometimes Sad» and «Better» being cases in point. Taylor’s songwriting skills come to the fore on tracks like «Casualty Of Love» which metaphorically uses the backdrop of war when singing about love whilst the cryptic and Dylanesque «Armageddon Does The Job» sees the man dip his toe into political waters. Unfortunately, each track sees Taylor playing more or less the same rhythm at the same mid-tempo pace on his acoustic guitar which makes for a somewhat undistinctive set of songs although some ethereal sounds from Mitchell Connell on electric guitar do add a bit of much needed colour.
