One Hundred Days – The Obvious, SPEC EDITION 2020

After The Awakening broke up, Andrew Horrocks and I continued to write and record songs together. We started a new 4-piece band called Echo Park, which led to the recording of the indie “Counting By Heads” CD in 1992. Shortly after, Echo Park disbanded. We added Gord Stevenson as drummer and over-all music influencer and cool person. We called our new power-trio “The Obvious” and began recording new songs and doing live shows.

In 1994, we began recording our first album. We got signed to Liquid Disc Records in 1995. At the moment the album was to come out, it was discovered that another signed American band was already called The Obvious, so we had to change the name of the band. Thus, One Hundred Days was born, and we smartly (or not so) named the debut album “The Obvious!”

I have included a few never-before-heard songwriting demos, plus a rare live recording from a US Showcase gig in 1994 – likely the one that got us signed to Liquid Disc. It shows Andy, Gord and I really having fun playing together. These live recordings were made before we had to nuance the lyrical content to fit the Christian Music market. None of these songs were written to be considered for CCM, but when we signed with Liquid Disc, we had to squeeze some other meanings into the songs – for better or worse.

I hope you enjoy re-living this moment in time. Thanks so much.
