Things Break

Description

Things Break is the debut album by the Canadian alternative pop/rock trio Elim Hall, released on Reunion Records in 1986. The album was recorded and mixed between January 27 and February 6, 1986 by JB – assisted by Spencer Chrislu, Chris Taylor, and Robert DiGioia – at Le Studio in Quebec, Canada; with Tim Marsh of The Revised Version fame (actually the father of the band’s drummer) and Gary Chapman producing. (Things Break was recorded and mixed in ten days, an unusually short time considering the big production philosophy dominating the 1980’s.) All songs written by the band except track A4 co-written with producers Gary Chapman and Tim Marsh.

Elim Hall is Glenn Teeple on guitar, keyboards, and background vocals; Ross Teeple on bass and lead vocals; and Steve Marsh on drums and background vocals.

Elim Hall consists of brothers Glenn and Ross Teeple with cousin Steve Marsh, a trio which had been playing together since childhood. (The hometown church attended by the guys had been called Elim Hall in its early history and so this intriguing name was adopted by the band.) The band toured throughout Canada and across the United States, playing at various festivals as well as opening for performers like label mate Michael W. Smith, Stryper and Steve Taylor. They continued to remain a favourite around Ontario. The band broke up in 1991. During 1995-6, Steve Marsh recorded and performed with 100 Days. (In the summer of 1996, Steve was diagnosed with liver cancer which took his life only a few weeks later.)
