Description

Brave New World is an album by the Canadian singer and songwriter Amanda Cook, released on Bethel Music in September 2015.

This album represents a voyage – a voyage of discovering that God has been on our side all along and that He has given us permission to wrestle with truth, process pain, and ask big questions. This album is a reminder that along our pilgrimage there is invitation to be transformed by perfect Love.

Cross Rhythms has long been a fan of this Canadian-born singer. As far back as 2009, when she was recording as Amanda Falk, we were enthusing about the warm texture of her voice and her winning way in composing memorable melodies. Amanda’s decision to relocate to the USA and there become a worship leader with Redding, California’s renowned Bethel Church was always likely to produce worship music of real quality a long way from the stereotypical material pouring out from many ministries and ever since her breathtaking «You Make Me Brave» on the multi-artist Bethel Music album we have been eagerly anticipating her first solo project for the company/church. We have not been disappointed. Giving the production reigns to two of Nashville’s most consistent hitmakers, Jason Ingram and Paul Mabury, was a wise choice while pursuing the theme of «You Make Me Brave» – that we can face the world without fear or anxiety when we are truly centred on God – has brought forth a rich harvest here. The opener «Heroes» is a fine song of surrender and trust while «Never See The End» allows airy musical space and rumbling drum kit to pervade our journey towards the Lord’s heart. There are also some elegant solo piano instrumental passages while «Highest Praise» is a song surely destined to be sung in many churches. The closing «Pieces» brings things to a memorable end, the song continuing on after a gentle piano run accented by random conversation in the background which, as one reviewer suggested, may be to remind listeners that the journey is never truly over.
