Description
I Could Sing of Your Love Forever, sub-titled 25 Modern Worship Songs for a New Generation, is a multi-artist compilation, released on Worship Together in 2000, manufactured by Sparrow Label Group and distributed in the US by Worship Together and Chordant Distribution Group. This compilation was followed up the next year with a Volume 2.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. (Psalm 40:3)
Unchanging Truth Has a New Sound
Experience the songs that are transforming worship music and renewing the hearts of believers around the globe. “I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever: 25 Modern Worship Songs For A New Generation” , features 25 top songs emerging from the hearts and voices of passionate worshippers and progressive worship leaders world-wide.
This double-CD collection includes powerful music from artists and worship leaders who are leading a new generation in God-centered, radical praise and worship: Featuring songs from SONICFLOOd, Delirious?, Passion, Matt Redman, Darrell Evans, Revival Generation and more! [A note printed on the back of the CD]
I know some mediocre cover version praise albums have caught undiscerning praise album buyers in the past, but this will surely surpass the sales of such lightweights. This two CD set features classic songs sung by such pioneers as Delirious? (when they were Cutting Edge), Matt Redman, Noel Richards and Ian White. Compiled in the States, it’s the Brits that largely dominate and even SonciFlood can only just acquit themselves against such classic songs and anointed performances as those here. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, May 2001]
Priced at around £17 this looks like quite a tidy little package – 50 worship songs from the likes of Redman, Hughes, Oakley, Delirious? and many more trustworthy names all neatly compiled in a four disc set. However, the collection is simply a re-issue of the two volumes of ‘I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever’ released in 2000 and 2002. The packaging proclaims ‘Limited Edition!’, ‘Unchanging truth has a new sound!’ and ’50 modern worship songs for a new generation!’ and I’m sorry, but alarm bells start ringing. Let’s have an end to this endless recycling of worship recordings. There is nothing wrong with (most of) the songs/recordings themselves (indeed, the fact that you will recognise almost every track speaks volumes about how God has used them to aid our worship) and the recordings are mostly of a high quality (although some of the older studio tracks are sounding dated). Perhaps this pack would be nice for the new Christian who wants to do a bit of catching up (but why, when there’s so much great new worship music out there?). The low rating simply reflects this reviewer’s frustration with the motivation behind releases such as this – but then maybe I’m the cynic? [Ewan Jones, Cross Rhythms, May 2006]
