True Tunes 2000: A Musical Declaration of Independents

Description

True Tunes 2000: A Musical Declaration of Independents is a multi-artist compilation released on Rhythm House/True Tunes Records in 2000.

I am passionate about independent music because in my experience some of the purest ministry is taking place amongst the hard up grassroots artists who are concentrating on ministry and not record sales. It’s also the place where a great deal of interesting music is made unrestrained by the record company’s ideas about what sounds like a hit. Consequently one of my favourite labels is True Tunes where indies are given support but left to their own devices to be creative. This compilation is an excellent introduction to a label that highlights some of the best indie talent in the world. Encompassing all styles from the alt country sound of Urban Hillbilly Quartet through to the enigmatic pop of The Wayside and Stickman Jones and the rootsy Canadian singer Jon Buller and even a contribution from dc Talk member Michael Tait’s sister Lynda Randle. It’s all here for you to check out and my recommendations include Daniel’s Window who have re-worked «Solid Rock» into perfect pop and the funky rock of Big Face Grace. Basically if you want to get into a pile of brilliant but largely unknown bands then steer off the beaten track of the Christian bookshop, get online and investigate!
