High Praise

High Praise is the eighth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Don Francisco, released on StarSong Records in 1988. The album was produced by Don Francisco.

The title says it all. Don Francisco’s new album is called ‘High Praise’ and like its title, the theme and focus of each of the ten songs on ‘High Praise’ is the worship and praise of God.

This is Don Francisco’s first self-produced work, thus it has a comfortable feel to it, reflecting Francisco’s character. There is a joyous and majestic quality to each of the songs. The arrangements are simple, highlighting Francisco’s rich voice and guitar, with just the right touch of choral accompaniment, piano, flute and horns.

Many of the pieces on the album are reflective, gradual pieces, like «Speak Peace to My Heart», «To God» or the opening «Worship the King». Each of these feature lovely, graceful melodies. There are also two “spunkier” numbers, «I Will Praise You» and «I Will Rejoice» that should please the “hand-clappers” and “foot-stompers” out there. You won’t find any of Don Francisco’s trademark ballads on ‘High Praise’. Instead, Francisco has come out with a collection of honest, simple worship songs to encourage and uplift fellow Christians in ‘High Praise’. [Christopher Dale, CCM, August 1988]
