Millennium Archives

Description

Millennium Archives is a compilation album by the late American singer and songwriter Mark Heard, posthumously released by Home Sweet Home Records in 2000.

First it should be stated that this is not a compilation put together for “casual fans”, though still an album to be appreciated by long time fans. The CD includes 13 unreleased tracks from Mark Heard’s days at Home Sweet Home Records during the first half of the 1980s, digitally mastered from the original recordings. Among the tracks are 3 previously unreleased songs (“Morning Is Gold”, “Night to Night” and “Tell Me It’s Your Love”), as well as 3 previously unreleased instrumental renditions of Christmas songs. Track 14, the last track on the CD, contains Jerry Houser’s interview with Mark Heard on his 1985 release Mosaics, including audio excerpts from that album. The CD also includes a letter written by Mark Heard to a struggling fan. (The letter initially focuses on the meaning of “Everybody Loves a Holy War,” but also includes Mark’s comments about the meaning of “Eye of the Storm” and “Faces in Cabs.” Mark also comments on his album Victims of the Age.)
