Spectrum Presents: Joyful and Triumphant is a multi-artist album released on Spectrum Records in 1970. The album was recorded by Jim Conklin at Peninsula Sound Studios in San Carlos, California; with Paul Weaver producing. Music arranged and directed by Noel Wilson. Original compositions by Dale Lear. Featuring The Paul Weaver Chorale and Orchestra, The Spectrum Singers, Mustardseed, The Dannie Belles, John and Kim Anderson, Phil Dunaway, and Rita “Matoka”.

The music on this album is presented by Spectrum Productions and taken from JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT, the Sights and Sounds of Christmas. This much acclaimed show was created originally for stage and has played to packed San Francisco theatre audiences three years consecutively before being produced for television and viewed for the first time on KPIX-TV, December 25, 1970. Spectrum has become known for its contemporary approach to the presentation of the Christian message, and JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT is no exception. Utilizing a wide variety of media, the purpose and meaning of Christ’s birth was communicated that day to about 70,000 people.

The purpose of JOYFUL AND TRIUMPHANT are two-fold. First, to have a magnificent Christmas spectacle providing entertainment for the entire family, and secondly, to relate a message… a message not only of the history of Christmas by dramatically portraying the events of Christ’s birth, but also the reasons for that birth in relation to contemporary society.
