Description
“Modern Man” – b/w “Battle” – is a two-sided 7-inch vinyl single by the British new wave outfit Thruaglas Darkly, released on Kingsway Music 1981 (catalogue number KMS 909). Thruaglas Darkly is Andrew Keeling, Mick Foreshaw, Brian Taylor, Martin Walker, Robert Stirzaker, Alison Walker, and Heather Makinson (all members of Fleetwood Pentecostal Church).
According to a note on the back of the single sleeve, “the two tracks on this single are forerunners of an album due late ’81 which marks another step on for innovative christian music.” (The band recorded a demo for Kingsway Records for the projected album which was unfortunately never made. There was also a four track tape recorded at Smile Studios in Manchester featuring “Chance”, “Fool”, “As the Orchestra Played”, and “Battle”.)
Trivia: AD was a short-lived band which played a handful of gigs during early 1984, growing out of the ashes of Thruaglas Darkly (which was operational during 1980-82). After A. D. Martin Walker and Michael Alan Taylor went on to play and record with Nth Ascension and Robert Stirzaker formed Counterparts. Andrew Keeling turned to classical composition, arranging and writing working with such musicians as Robert Fripp and David Cross from King Crimson. (https://ann0d0mine.bandcamp.com/album/a-d-1984)
