Description
A Door of Hope is an album by the British praise & worship outfit Achor (on this album credited “The Valley of Achor”), released in the UK on Dovetail in 1975. The album was produced by John Pantry.
Glancing at the author index of any hymn book you will see that most of the great songs of the Church have been born in times when God’s Spirit was moving in special ways. The hymn books indelibly record the message of the Spirit in the days of Wesley, Moody and others long after their sermons are forgotten. Their songs were not mere entertainment or meeting fillers. They were the overflow of men’s hearts seeking to express all that was welling up within them in response to what God was saying.
In our day God is moving again so there is a whole new flood of scripture words set to music and songs inspired by the spirit. Themes like the Grace of God, the Lordship of Christ and God’s people being one family fill the air. God has not given the gift of songwriters to the Church. Instead He pours out His Spirit upon His people and the songs flow out of their life style. True praise is born out of a life lived as an expression of willing worship.
This album of songs reflects what God is doing in one Church in London. Here the outpouring of the Spirit has resulted in a deeper appreciation of the loveliness of Jesus and learning what it is to share our lives together as a part of God’s Family. No album can be perfect as God hasn’t finished His work of building yet; but we are sharing it now declaring what He has done and inviting you to join with us in praising Him.
