Description
Tending the Rose Garden is a five-track 12-inch vinyl EP by the American alternative pop band The Innocence Mission, released on Llist Records in 1986. The album was recorded by Doug Phillips at Dane Studios in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; with Phillips and band members Karen and Don Peris producing. Mixed at Dane Studios. All songs written by Karen Peris except the music of tracks B1 and B2 co-written with Don Peris and the lyrics of track B2 written by Don Peris. The album track “Shadows” was later covered by Amy Grant on her 1988-album, Lead Me On.
The Innocence Mission features Karen Peris on vocals, keyboards, and harmonica, Don Peris on both classical and electric guitars, Mike Bitts on bass and vocals, and Steve Brown on drums and percussion.
Trivia: The band formed in 1982 at Lancaster Catholic High. In 1983 and 1984, the Innocence Mission was known as Masquerade. They were a Top 40 cover band and performed in school, at dance halls, lounges and Holiday Inns.
