Continuum

Description

Continuum (featuring new Club Tracks and Exclusive Remixes from the album “(Golden)”) is the third album by the American techno duo Rhythm Saints (Stephen Nixon and Lee-Jane Nixon), released on N*Soul Records and Velocity Music Group in 1996, distributed in the US by Diamante Music Group. Also distributed by Alliance Music in Europe. The album was produced by band member Stephen Nixon with additional production and programming by Jason Farrall. Remixes and additional production by Stephen Nixon, Jason Farrall, Jordan Jay, and Calvin Chambers.

It warms our heart to note the incredible growth the Rhythmsaints have experienced between 1995’s “Golden” and the new “Continuum.” Producer Stephen Nixon is joined by Jason Farrall, weaving sprawling groovescapes that combine house, trance, and tribal colors. This album is a rare treat in that it allows the listener to consume the disc’s 70-plus minutes in either twitching or horizontal physical states. Such cuts as «(I Need To Feel) Your Love» and «Love Will See Us Through» soak the senses and inspire constant spins. Truly essential. [Billboard Magazine (Excerpt from “Dance Trax by Larry Flick”), June 22, 1996]

There’s a bit of interesting growth in the world of Rhythmsaints, one of the few acts that have been successful in merging hardcore club music with spiritually uplifting lyrical concepts. Group mastermind Stephen Nixon has joined with Jason Farrell to form the U.K.-rooted Fineline Productions, which will house an indie label and a publishing company. If you haven’t already done so, check out the current Rhythmsaints disc, “Continuum,” a nourishing blend of house, jungle, and ambient on NuSoul Records. Okay, here’s the deal: you want dance music and what’s more you want decent Christian dance music. Is it too much to ask? It seems that the Rhythm Saints have finally answered our distress calls for decent dance music. This album is amazing in that it is a real bridge between the secular and the Christian dance world. It bounds with energy and originality, has polished yet surreal vocals, and a bass that would get your granddad dancing. It has to be said that this is one of Scott Blackwell‘s better attempts at commercialised dance music: the only let down is that it isn’t a continuous mix, but this doesn’t overshadow the quality of the album. The track entitled «World-X Remix» sees a change in tempo and becomes more ambient in its outlook and has strains of Everything But The Girl’s «Walking Wounded Remixes» and talks about the youth culture in our post modern society. The Rhythm Saints are reaching new areas and possibilities with this album. Come on record companies, we want more albums like this. [Helen Sanderson-White, Cross Rhythms, August 1997]
