Quiet Reflections

Description

Quiet Reflections, sub-titled Selected Music with Inspirational Readings, is a compilation album by the American singer and songwriter John Michael Talbot of Mason Proffit fame, released on Sparrow Records in 1987. The album was produced by Billy Ray Hearn and Phil Perkins.

John Michael Talbot’s exit fromt the typical Christian music merry-go-round to the simpler Franciscan lifestyle has produced some of the most memorable worship and meditation songs penned in the past 10 years. Indeed, Talbot’s output has been prolific; he has released nearly 20 records during his 12 year span of recording for Sparrow.

‘Quiet Reflections’, which arrived late last year, walks a thin line between replicating a worship service and a Talbot concert. It reprises songs from seven of John’s more recent albums and ties them together with Scripture readings, as well as prayers and meditations from “Church fathers and Franciscan sources.” The album is a response to requests from people who have wondered about the readings Talbot uses in his concerts. This thoughtful feature helps ‘Quiet Reflections’ avoid being merely a “greatest hits” album. [Bruce A. Brown, CCM, April 1988]
