Global Transmission

Description

Global Transmission is an album by the British techno worship project Ikon (Paul Cooper), independently released on DBASS in 1996, distributed in the UK by Nelson Word Ltd. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Paul Cooper and Tim Riches. Programmed by Paul Cooper with additional programming by Tim Riches. Written by Paul Cooper and Tim Riches (tracks 7 and 10).

Vocals provided by Rachel Modest (tracks: 1,2,4,6,8) and Sue Wallace (track 8). All lyrics by Modest except track 8 featuring lyrics by Wallace.

Ikon are a group on a mission, a mission to evangelise the dancing world and with this album they certainly have a chance at hitting the spot. ‘Global Transmission’ contains both vocal dance tracks and some serious stomping hardcore. The first two tracks really get the adrenaline pumping and certainly aren’t for the faint hearted, but the rest of the album lacks the vitality of the opening tracks. There are obvious Josh Wink influences in this album, notably «What Are We Looking For?», which rings of «Higher State Of Consciousness», and draws parallels with commercial dance music. ‘Global Transmission’ certainly opens up evangelistic doors and though it has glitches it is accessible to major dance fans.
