Description
Perpetual Defiance is the debut album by the British thrash metal band Detritus, release in the UK on White Metal/Edge Records in 1991, a division of Kingsway Music. Also released on Under One Flag, a sublabel of Music For Nations. The album was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Paul Hodson (ex Magnum, ex Uriah Heep) with the band co-producing. Recorded November-December 1990 at White Rabbit Studio in Bridgenorth, England. Arranged by the band.
Detritus features Mark Broomhead on vocals and bass, Andy Neal and Earl Morris on guitars, and Andy Bright on drums. All keyboards provided by producer Paul Hodson.
A sparkling debut album from Bristol thrash team Detritus, this is every bit the equal to the stunning Seventh Angel album and shows that despite no encouragement from a bemused church, Christian moshheads are now producing some devastating music. My only quibble is the drums tend to get lost against the jagged drive of the perpetually pumping axes but maybe that will sort itself out when I get a CD copy. Lyrics have a couple of straight ahead gospel proclamations but specialise in searing indictments of social injustice. Tough one guys. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, June 1991]
