Learn is the fifth studio album by the American metal band Deliverance, released on Intense Records in 1993, a division of Frontline Music Group, distributed by Diamante Distribution. The album was recorded by Gene Eugene of Adam Again fame at The Green Room in Huntington Beach and The Mixing Lab in Garden Grove, California; with Terry Taylor of Daniel Amos fame producing. Additional engineering by Bob Moon and Terry Taylor. Mixed by Gene Eugene at The Mixing Lab. All songs written or co-written by band member Jimmy P. Brown II, except a cover of “Sanctuary”, a song written by Terry Taylor and originally featured on Daniel Amos’ 1984-album, Vox Humana.
Featuring Jimmy P. Brown II on rhythm and lead guitar, keyboards, and vocals; Jon Maddux on rhythm and lead guitar, as well as keyboards; and Manny Morales on five-string bass; with drums and percussion provided by Jon Knox of Adam Again and White Heart fame. Cello on tracks 1 and 8 by Melissa Hansen. Backing vocals by Charles Brown and Riki Michele.

The fifth release by the L.A.-based metal band Deliverance, coming out in 1993. Learn is slower to mid-paced, filled with brooding, heavy riffs, distinctive bass lines, and vocals that at times recall Geoff Tate of Queensryche, Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine, and at other times, Dream Theater. And, while you can hear musical influences on the album, Deliverance was synthesizing them to create their own expressive landscape. Learn is a full-on metallic muscle flex of heavy metal. The music is thick, intentional, confident, and crunchy. While early albums sped through from beginning to end, Learn is determined to make the journey as enjoyable and delicious as possible – so no need to rush! This is the definition of epic, progressive heavy metal and it continues to be a high point in the Deliverance catalog and an album treasured by fans.
