Description
The Light Years is a CD compilation album by the American hard rock outfit Resurrection Band, released on Light Records in 1995.
In the ’70s The Resurrection Band emerged from JPUSA in Chicago with a unique ministry which was as likely to find the band members pastoring the church and feeding the poor on the streets as singing their loud brand of Christian rock. By the early ’80s they, along with Petra, were really the top of the pile when it came to the genre and to be honest, these boys always had the stronger musical chops and louder amplifiers. This compilation, released in 1995, charts their journey through albums recorded for the Light Record label, hence the title. Drawn from ‘Colours‘, ‘Mommy Don’t Love Daddy Anymore‘ and ‘DMZ‘, the messages are hard hitting and socially aware on songs like «American Dream», «Elevator Muzik» and «Mommy Don’t Love Daddy Anymore». This is the sound of a band finding their sound and letting loose with both barrels. Radical rock with a biting delivery from both Glenn and Wendy Kaiser on vocals. This stands up well with the mainstream rock of the era. As a young rock fan who’s found Jesus, The Resurrection Band were the only band who ever came close to equalling the power of my favourite bands of the day. And this captures them when they were still at their peak. [Mike Rimmer, Cross Rhythms, September 2008]
