Run from the Darkness is the third album by the Canadian hard rock group Daniel Band, released on Streetlight Records in Canada in 1984, and on Refuge Records in the US, distributed by The Benson Company. The album was recorded and mixed by Mark Wright with the band producing.

‘Run from the Darkness’ is for those true believers who think Petra sold out with the synthesizers of ‘Beat the System‘. This is no-holds-barred heavy metal, but with a decided melodic bent, especially on «Don’t Give Up» and the title track. Those two in particular combine torrents of metal chords, thundering drums, and shrieking vocals – but with a real melody line.

The rest of the project varies in quality, but never in intensity. Some will quibble that the lyrics are fairly simple. Actually, they’re just straightforward in the best heavy-metal tradition. If the Daniel Band can find a hotter studio sound to go with Dan McCabe’s voice, these guys could be a force to be reckoned with. [Bob Darden, CCM, June 1985]
