Description
The self-titled and sole album by the American progressive rock/jazz fusion project Chaos is the Poetry featuring songwriter/gitarist/producer Lanny Cordola was released on Alarma Records in 1996, a division of Graceland Entertainment, distributed by Benson Music Distribution. The album was recorded and mixed by Steve Good at The Mixing Lab in Garden Grove, California; and was produced by Lanny Cordola with Chuck Wright co-producing. All songs written by Lanny Cordola or co-written with Phillip Bardowell and/or Chuck Wright.
Featuring Phillip Bardowell on lead vocals, Lanny Cordola on guitars and vocals, and Chuck Wright on bass, as well as guest musicians Gregg Bissonette on drums (except track 11 featuring Joey Taylor) and Scott Breadman on percussion. Also featuring Gary Griffin on keyboards (with Rob Mullins providing Fender Rhodes on track 2), Chris Bleth on saxophone, oboe, English horn, clarinet, flute, and duduk, Tony Guerrero on trumpet (track 3) and flugelhorn (track 7), Mr. Solo (rap on track 8), and Taso Katsos (loop on track 3).
Chaos is the Poetry is Lanny Cordola, Phillip Bardowell and Chuck Wright who also did play together as Magdalen. The trio is joined by drummer Gregg Bissonette, who together with Wright’s bass provides such a solid groove. Also appearing are Gary Thomas Griffin, and Tony Guerrero, adding their talents. Of special note is Chris Bleth’s sax work. It is difficult to classify this album because it seem to meld so many styles together in it. The best definition is progressive rock with an alternative edge and a few hints of “acid jazz”.
