Description
Together with Friends is a solo album by the Swedish songwriter and guitarist Björn Stigsson of Leviticus fame, released on the Swedish gospel label Royal Music in 1987. Released in the US by Pure Metal Records in 1989, distributed by Spectra Distribution. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Peo at Studio Vanäs in Sweden.
Bjorn Stigsson, the top-notch guitarist for Leviticus, recorded a winner of a solo album here. He incorporated three lead vocalists: Peo, the album’s producer; Sonny Larsson, one of Sweden’s top vocalists; and Tina Spangberg.
This is one of Christian rock’s finer moments. The production is par excellence and the songs are hot. Three vocalists make the sound pretty diverse, yet the album has a cohesive direction of commercial hard rock with a metal edge.
Joyful power chords introduce «Come On», which shows off the diversity of Peo’s voice. In it he screams, yells, groans, whispers, talks, and softly sings.
«I’m Gonna Rock» features a nice vocal tradeoff between Sonny Larsson and Peo.
Bjorn Stigsson has crafted a “polished passion” into this record, which stands out in a metal world of formula and technique. [Doug Van Pelt, CCM, April 1989]
