Under the Mighty Blood is an album by the American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist Sleepy Ray (Raymond McDonald), released on New Breed Music in 1994, a division of Vineyard Music Group, distributed by Diamante Distribution. The album was produced by Raymond and Bobby McDonald.

On ‘Under the Mighty Blood’, Sleepy Ray (Raymond McDonald) has released a collection of blues songs with a rock ‘n’ roll edge that will more than draw comparisons with blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn. It’s remarkable how similar Ray’s guitar sounds come to imitating Vaughn’s, all the while keeping the focus of the lyrics on biblical truths. On the rocker «Cloud Rollin’ In», Ray speaks of the return of Christ: “There’s a cloud rollin’ into Bethlehem/ You know it’s Jesus/ Come to take his people/ Back with him.” His honesty speaks the loudest on «Lord Rescue Me» when Ray says “Lord rescue me from the man that I am/ With your holy love can you cause me to stand/ With your tender heart and your tender mercies/ And your redemption plan/ Oh Lord rescue me from what I am.” Although his vocals may not be the strongest, Ray sings with a passion that communicates effectively within this style of music, not necessarily relying on perfect pitch or fancy arrangements but rather letting the music and message speak for itself. The album has a raw spontaneity that may appeal to people who like their music with plenty of attitude and emotion. [Mark A. Smeby, CCM, March 1995]
