Description

Alien is the third and final album by the American pop/rock combo Wings of Light, released on Emerald Records in 1985. The album was recorded by Dan Collins and Ron Capone at Westwind Studios in Thousand Oaks and by Bill Cobb at his Poiema Studios in Camarillo, California; with Dan Collins producing assisted by Fred J. Heumann. Mixed by Dan Collins and Win Kutz at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California. Tracks and horns arranged by John Andrew Schreiner.

Featuring session musicians like keyboardist John Andrew Schreiner, guitarist Dan Huff of White Heart, as well as a rhythm section consiting of bassist Leon Gaer and drummer Keith Edwards. Featuring mostly cover tunes, like “Saviour” by Edin-Ã…dahl (a song from their 1982-album Alibi), “Rescued For A Reason” by Paul Field (recorded on his 1984-album Building Bridges), “Surrendering” by Chris Eaton (recorded by Sheila Walsh on her 1984-album Triumph in the Air), as well as “Alien” and “Intensive Care” written by Si Simonson of Messenger fame.

Wings of Light was a gospel group that emerged out of the Continental Singers ministry. They got started in 1978-79 and was on the road through 1985, spending most of their time outside the US. Like the Continental Singers Wings Of Light worked with an ever-changing lineup, Fred Heumann being the only one who was in all but one iteration on the road. Wings Of light recorded three albums, all with a different sound, ranging from jazzy pop to AOR.
