Safe as Milk: Live at Cornerstone 1997 is a live album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Roe of The Seventy Sevens fame, released on M8 Records in 1999, distributed by M8 Distribution. The album was recorded by Andy Peterson, assisted by Mike Pobanz and Mike Styer, Live at the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnel, Illinois, July 6, 1997; with Steve Johnson producing. Audio restoration and mastering by Michael Roe and Mark Harmon at Breadbox in Rocklin, California.
Safe As Milk is Michael Roe on guitar and lead vocals, Mark Harmon on bass and backing vocals, and Bruce Spencer on drums, percussion, and backing vocals, as well as Scott Reams on keyboards and percussion, Michael Gregory on guitar, and Carey Avery on percussion.
When Michael Roe appeared at Cornerstone ’97 to play his recently released The Boat Ashore album some amazing music ensued. That set still ranks as one of my all time favorite Cornerstone moments. The show was recorded by a fan in the audience and the bootleg has circulated in the underground since then. Now a limited number have been manufactured by Millenium 8 Records and for a limited time you can pick up this sure-fire classic. Keep in mind, it is a bootleg. But what the recording lacks in technical perfection it makes up for in spirit and historical significance. These are extremely limited in nature so don’t wait… [John J. Thompson, True Tunes]
