Boomerang

[Bruce A. Brown, CCM, February 1998]

For at least the last 10 years Bruce Carroll has been releasing melodic and spiritually uplifting country albums, all of which are worth finding. With ‘Boomerang’ he has pushed back the musical boundaries to embrace a rockier edge. Faultless musicianship brings a diverse range of sounds that keeps the attention and every song has a strong hook. The strongest feature of Bruce’s music is the lyrics. He draws you towards God without you ever feeling “preached at”. Lines like, “From the moment love overcame the veil,” “Grief crashes to pieces as I begin to forgive” and “Lord I hunger for you in my bones/ Feel my soul” soothe their way into your soul without invitation. An exceptional gift and an album for all fans of good music. [Robin Budgell, Cross Rhythms, June 1998]
