Energizin’ Love is an album by the American singer Paul D. Davis, released on Spirit Records in 1980, manufactured and distributed by Hartsong Corporation. The album was recorded and mixed by Willie Harlan at I.A.M. Studios in Irvine, California; with Denny Correll producing. Arranged by Correll and Harlan Rogers.
Featuring a session band consisting of Harlan Rogers and Skip Konte on keyboards, George Marinelli on guitar, Marc Levine on bass, and John Mehler on drums and percussion, with Gary McLaughlin providing congas and Dave Garland sitting in on saxophone (and as well playing keyboards on track B2). Backing vocals by Tim Correll and The Archers (Janice, Steve, and Tim Archer).
More than adequate vocal ability and safe arrangements make this gently swinging LP of adult contemporary tunes easy to listen to – sometimes too easy. A few songs on the LP are good. One, «Just Around the Bend», points out the close relationship between gospel and rock moving from acapella to fully commercial arrangments and back again. «You’re the Father» has a slightly country commercial sound and simple yet sensitive lyrics. Unfortunately, the LP’s title cut has some rather insipid guitar licks that detract from it’s attractiveness. Songs written by Denny Correll, Tim Correll, Stephanie Boosahda, Skip Konte, Eric B.
