Lead Me On

Description

Lead Me On is the third album by the British singer and songwriter Phil Potter, released in the UK on Kingsway Music in 1980. The album was recorded by Les Moir and Dave Aston at ICC Studios in Eastbourne, England; with John Pantry producing. All songs written by Phil Potter except track A6 co-written with Chris Norton, track A2 co-written with Michael Dunn, track A1 written by Dunn, and track B4 written by Ian “Ishmael” Smale.

Another very strong outing from Phil. In addition to the usual gentle acoustic pieces, Phil successfully tries out some jazz influenced rock on tracks like «Try To Remember», «Blues & Greens» and «Make It Real». Some of the softer mellow songs like «Laugh And Cry With Me» and «Never Seeking» also have playful jazz flourishes. The mysterious ballad «Fire In Me» is a standout. Synthesizer joins up with a new wave-ish rock beat on «Teach Me». All original songs, save for a cover of Ishmael’s «The King Of Glory». Another John Pantry production.
