When the Moon’s Behind the Clouds

Description

When the Moon’s Behind the Clouds is a studio album by the American singer and songwriter Paul Clark, independently released on Seed Records in 1992.

For the record, Paul Clark is one of contemporary Christian music’s first artists. His ‘Songs From the Savior‘ was released in 1970 and the last 23 years have seen the release of 11 more albums, plus three multi-album CD compilations. Listening to his catalog reveals his chameleon-like personality, vocally speaking, to the extent that the average listener would not know a few of these records were made by the same singer.

Likewise on ‘When the Moon’s Behind the Clouds’, Clark’s vocal reveal a recent fondness for Sting and Peter Gabriel. The good news (beyond the obvious, that he’s still recording) is that, as a composer, he’s improved dramatically since those early records. This album features everything from Beatle-esque rcokers to tender acoustic ballads, all well arranged, played and produced. It’s really a fine collection for adult contemporary tastes, worthy of more attention than it may receive through limited distribution. [Thom Granger, CCM, March 1994]
