Description
Coming from Somewhere Else, sub-titled The Rocketown Writers, Vol. 1, is a multi-artist project featuring ten songs written and performed by the four American songwriters Gordon Kennedy (of White Heart and Dogs of Peace), Wayne Kirkpatrick (probably best known as a songwriting partner of Michael W. Smith), Phil Madeira and Billy Sprague. The album was released on Rocketown Records in October 2000.
The album features these four songwriters personal recordings of ten of their songs that had previously been covered by other artists, like “Change the World” (the Grammy Award winning Song of the Year originally recorded by Eric Clapton); “Place in This World” (a Billboard Top Ten hit originally recorded by Michael W. Smith); as well as the 1999 ASCAP Country Music Award winning “You Move Me” (a song recorded by various artists including Pierce Pettis – who actually co-wrote the song with Gordon Kennedy; Susan Ashton; and Garth Brooks – who’s version peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and No. 1 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart).
