The House Show is an acoustic live album by the American singer and songwriter Derek Webb of Caedmon’s Call fame, released on INO Records in 2004. It was recorded during his House Show tour, following the release of his first solo album, She Must and Shall Go Free. The album was recorded live November 21, 2003 by David Jacquin at Weaver Auditorium, University of Mobile in Alabama. Edited by Derek Webb and Sandra McCracken with Jimmy Jernigan mixing at Playground Recording Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Produced by Derek Webb.

As Derek Webb commented in the album liner notes, “For better or for worse, [She Must and Shall Go Free] wasn’t an album best suited to big stage production. The songs are more simple than showy, and they have sparked discussion in some unlikely places… Since March 2003, I have played hundreds of these concerts or ‘HOUSE SHOWS’ – fifty or so people in someone’s living room. Just songs and conversations with no production, no press.”

Webb’s latest work was effectively the culmination of some six months of touring with his House Shows – an intimate gig in someone’s living room, consisting of songs and conversations which touch on the personal as well as the wider gospel message. Webb’s ability to combine his music with what is effectively some extensive preaching seems effortless and he is engaging throughout – whether singing or speaking. His acoustic arrangements are things of beauty from the openers «Faith In My Eyes» and «She Must And Shall Go Free» to his exquisite and moving tribute to his grandmother «Dance». But it is his talks that almost steal the show, they never seem out of place – particularly his introduction to «Nobody Loves Me» and later on his highly entertaining intro to «Dance». One-time Caedmon’s Call member Webb is clearly a gifted performer and speaker and his ‘House Show’ will genuinely touch all those who hear it – live or recorded.
