Myself When I Am Real is the fourth album by the American singer and songwriter Bebo Norman, released on Essential Records in September 2002. The album was recorded by Ed Cash and Mick Conley at Ed’s in Franklin, Tennessee; with Bebo Norman and Cash producing. Mixed by Cash at Ed’s.

The eagerly awaited (by me at least) third record label album by the troubadour from Atlanta, following on from ‘Ten Thousand Days‘ and ‘Big Blue Sky‘. Already the big buzz on this album is for «Great Light Of The World», a hands-in-the-air anthem that should see loads of radio airtime, but there’s plenty to enjoy here, including «Where The Trees Fall Down», a gentle acoustic piece with tasty harmony vocals by Sandra McCracken, «Falling Down», with Caedmon’s Call-type groove, and «My Love», a lyrical ballad with some excellent acoustic guitar work (which I’m assuming is Bebo) and a smooth cello accompaniment. Overall, this is a reversion to the gentler feel of ‘Ten Thousand Days’ after the poppier sound of ‘Big Blue Sky’, but what hasn’t changed is the obvious talent of the man, and this album showcases it perfectly.
