Wings of Light

Description

The self-titled debut album by the American pop/rock combo Wings of Light (actually a presentation of Continental Ministries) was released on Myrrh Records in 1979, a division of Word. Also released on Daystar Records, a division of Good Life Productions. The album was recorded by Toby Foster at the Soundcastle in Hollywood, California; with Paul Stilwell producing. Mixed by Foster at Universal Recording Studio in Chicago, Illinois. Arranged by Bob Krogstad (tracks: A4, B5), Clark Gassman (tracks: A1, A5, B2), and Terry Winch (tracks: A2, A3, B1, B4).

Featuring mostly cover tunes, like “You Put This Love In My Heart” by Keith Green (a song from his 1977-album For Him Who Has Ears to Hear), “He Loves You” by Bob Wilson of Seawind fame (recorded on Seawind’s self-titled debut album released in 1976), “Doesn’t That Surprise You” by Sharalee Lucas and John W. Thompson (recorded on Sharalee’s 1978-album Daughter of Music), “Pleasure Servin’ You” by Jamie Owens-Collins and Dan Collins (recorded on Jamie Owens-Collins’ 1978-album Love Eyes), and “The Serf & The King” by Tim Sheppard (recorded on his 1977-album Inside My Room).

Wings of Light was a gospel group that emerged out of the Continental Singers ministry. They got started in 1978-79 and was on the road through 1985, spending most of their time outside the US. Like the Continental Singers Wings Of Light worked with an ever-changing lineup, Fred Heumann being the only one who was in all but one iteration on the road. Wings Of light recorded three albums, all with a different sound, ranging from jazzy pop to AOR.
