Description
The Art of Praise, Volume Two, sub-titled Melodies for Flute, Guitar & Harp, is an instrumental album by the American session musician, composer and producer Fletch Wiley of Sonlight fame (the early ’70s backup band of Andrae Crouch, which morphed into Koinonia in the beginning of the ’80s), released on StarSong Records in 1986, distributed by Word. The album was produced by Fletch Wiley.
On this second album in the series, Fletch Wiley and guitarist Lee Anne Turner focus more on original compositions and contemporary tunes. They shoulda stuck to the classics. Both are exernplary musicians, but the strongest songs here are from other writers. Included are terrific versions of Bob Bennett’s «Come and See» and Twila Paris’ «Lamb of God». Among the classics are «Morning Has Broken», Bach’s «Bouree», and the timeless «Fairest Lord Jesus». The lone outstanding original is Wiley’s jazzy «Spirit Dance». [Bruce A.
