The Brethren – Self-titled album

Description

The self-titled and sole album by the American folk-rock group The Brethren was released on New Life Records in 1973. The album was recorded by Jim Dahlem at New Life Studios with Don Ziegler producing.

Five Seattle guys that look right out of the prime of the Jesus movement, shown on the back cover playing in front of a giant tie-died sheet. A welcome good-natured acoustic rock and folkrock sound. From the photo it looks like the instruments are guitar, electric bass, drums, electric piano and tambourine. Also piano, organ, vibes and congas. Larry Norman is well represented with covers of «I Wish We’d All Been Ready» and a medley of «Can’t Take Away The Lord» and «Sweet Song Of Salvation». They also do «My God And I», Elton John’s «Love Song», «Wracked By Pain», Janis Ian’s «He’s The Rainbow», and «He Will Come Again» from Truth Of Truths. Beautiful cover illustration. Spokane label.
