All My Riches

Description

All My Riches is the sophomore album by the British singer and songwriter Gwen Murray, released on Dovetail Records in 1976. The album was recorded by Helmut Kaufmann and Andy Kidd at I.C.C. Studios in Eastbourne, England; with John Pantry producing. All songs written by Gwen Murray except track B1 written by E. Montgomery, track B2 written by Tony Clay, and track B4 written by Andy Piercy.

Gwen Murray is backed by a session band featuring Andy Piercy of After The Fire on acoustic guitar, Tony Clay on banjo, John Pac of Parchment on Mandolin, Gordon Huntley on pedal steel guitar, Mo Witham on electric guitar, Nick Ryan on bass (a former band mate of John Pantry in both Peter & The Wolves and Wolfe), and Nick Malham on drums.

Graceful collection of country folk/pop songs from young UK female singer/songwriter. Gwen often comes across as a British Emmylou Harris, particularly when she’s doing a cover of «One Of These Days» or originals like «Adopted» and «Jesus My Shepherd». Lots of folksy mandolin in here (courtesy of Parchment’s John Pac), along with steel guitar from Gordon Huntly. After The Fire’s Andy Piercy is in here on acoustic guitar, plus Gwen does a version of his song «This Rolling Stone». Lovely ethereal quality to «Trinity». Seven of the ten songs were written by Gwen. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
