Description
Joy in the Morning is the sophomore album by the American inspirational pop duo Ernie Rettino & Debby Kerner, released on Maranatha! Music in 1975. Featuring a cover of the popular song “All Day Song (Love Him In The Morning)”, a song written by John Fischer and released on his album Still Life the previous year.
I wouldn’t have minded hearing more songs like the closing six-minute «Shine On», a beautiful moody acoustic piece with dreamy harmonies and elegant cello accompaniment. Debby’s solo rendering of «Motherless Child» (backed only by acoustic guitar) also has a pleasant simplicity. The rest of the record is their usual output of orchestrated MOR, folk/pop and easy listening ballads. «The Wa Wa Song» also shows the first signs of their upcoming interest in children’s music. Includes covers of «He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands», John Fischer’s «All Day Song (Love Him In The Morning)» and Kenn Gulliksen’s «Song Of Solomon». Gate-fold cover.
