Description
How Hard it is to Fly is the fifth solo album by the American singer and songwriter Pat Terry, self-released in November 2018. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Pat Terry at Horse & Sandwich Studio in Smyrna, Georgia. (Recorded to ProTools / 24bit / 48K on a Macbook Pro / 2.6GHZ Intel Core I7.) All songs, instruments, programming and vocals by Pat Terry.
The songs on this album began as demos, but over time they evolved into something I wanted everyone to hear. I recorded them in my little backyard studio, with Apple, my canine companion lying outside the door. She’s a great studio dog. A number of the songs that ended up on this project came out of the tumult of the last couple of years. I shuddered to watch the soul of our country being tested on the streets of Charlottesville and in a place of worship in Pittsburg. And I was dismayed to see a cynical, angry brand of politics take hold, pushing civility aside, and diminishing us all in the process. Strange days. Sadly, over the months I also saw several friends and a number of my heroes pass away, and was reminded how brief life is, and how important it is to live every day like it matters, because it does. Some of these songs were tough to write, but I hope you’ll hear the hope I found along the way. Thanks for listening. – Pat Terry / Smyrna, GA, November 2018
